How to clear cache on Mac

Review app cache sizes before you remove files. A practical guide to clearing Mac caches with control.

Check storage first

Open System Settings → General → Storage. If most space is in documents or videos, clearing app caches may only make a small difference.

Review app caches

MOLE scans your user Library/Caches folder and shows paths and sizes. Scanning does not delete files. It does not scan the entire disk or remove every kind of System Data.

Choose before cleaning

Close the relevant apps and select only cache folders you recognize. Confirm the selection to move it to the Trash. Keep any folder you are unsure about.

Check the result

Files in the Trash still use disk space. Review them before emptying the Trash, which removes the recovery option. Apps can recreate caches when you use them again.
